Quotable quotes

I started a blog about 2 months ago on "Inspiration" , shared it with some of my friends and was well received. This blog has evolved and I have quoted some famous people as well as some not so famous. A lot of these quotes align with my philosophy as a writer, which is basically helping others. L Ron Hubbard said:  "A being is only as valuable as he can serve others". I fully agree and thought that this would be the first quote I would bring you.

In this fast paced world of the fastest jet, the fastest car, computer, etc., we strive to be as efficient as possible to gain that "edge" on the competition. But as we race in overdrive we may lose sight of some of the wonders that life has to offer and forget to pause and take a deep breath of its bouquet, tendered unpretentiously before us. Quotes are a wonderful way to take pause and "refuel" the spirit and savor life, even if only second hand. Quotes help us ponder our inner thoughts, get creative and many times remind us of things we already know. We are a lot smarter than we give ourselves credit for.

Not every author or person is worthy of being quoted, some are just outright forgettable. Here I will quote only those famous authors, famous persons or regular Joes who have helped all of us when we've needed that "quick pick me up", or have helped to shape our lives as well as humanity.

So bookmark this blog for now. I promise I will be adding some incredible content that will always leave you wanting more.

“Probably the most neglected friend you have is you. And yet every man, before he can be a true friend to the world, must first become a friend to himself.” L Ron Hubbard

"Happiness is the overcoming of not unknownable obstacles toward a known goal."
- L. Ron Hubbard

I've gathered some of the best quotes  from various sites on the internet, so that you don't have to search much. Copy and paste them if you wish, but give credit where credit is due :

 On happiness:

I Like this quote I dislike this quoteSuccess is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.
Herman Cain quotes (American business man, author and speaker)

Don't rely on someone else for your happiness and self worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can't love and respect yourself - no one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are - completely; the good and the bad - and make changes as YOU see fit - not because you think someone else wants you to be different. Stacey2005

Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.
Buddha quotes (Hindu Prince Gautama Siddharta, the founder of Buddhism, 563-483 B.C.)

Be happy. It's one way of being wise.

On wisdom:

Wisdom is knowing what to do next, skill is knowing how to do it, and virtue is doing it.
David Starr Jordan quotes (American ichthyologist, educator, writer b.1851)

A man only becomes wise when he begins to calculate the approximate depth of his ignorance.

A rose without thorns is like love without heartbreak; it doesn't make sense. Zephyr_Legend

The next best thing to being wise oneself is to live in a circle of those who are

Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.
Mahatma Gandhi quotes (Indian Philosopher, internationally esteemed for his doctrine of nonviolent protest, 1869-1948)

On work:

“When I was young I observed that nine out of every ten things I did were failures, so I did ten times more work”

"To succeed, you need to work. If you can work with enthusiasm, efficiency and productivity, you rise to the top. If you do not, your job is unstable, boring or stressful." From The problems of work.
